“Please all, and you will please none.”
– Aesop

When you take the plunge and authentically market your business, you are not going to please everyone. Sometimes this feedback comes in the form of unsubscribes to your newsletter. Here are three reasons to be grateful for every unsubscribe that comes your way.

1. That Person is Taking Care of Themselves

We all get a TON of email. Way more than we can possibly go through in a lifetime. Everyone has to pare down sometimes or else we risk feeling overwhelmed. If that person unsubscribes from your email list, it’s what’s best for them. Send them a blessing and gratitude for taking care of themselves and move on.

2. They Weren’t Your Tribe Anyway

When you’re living and creating and being your authentic self in the world — as an entrepreneur or as a growing business — you are searching for your tribe. These are the people that love what you say and what you have to offer. These are the people who are excited to get your emails and love to reward your gifts with cash. These are not the people who unsubscribe to your emails. You’re better off without them on your list!

3. Cheaper Monthly Fees!

If your email marketing provider charges you based on the number of subscribers you have (and most do), then you definitely want to limit your list to those who want to hear from you. So more power to them for unsubscribing and saving you money!

It’s OK to Mourn

If you feel sad or shame when you get those unsubscribes, that’s totally normal. Allow yourself to feel those feelings and move on. Hopefully, the list above will help you to put those unsubscribes in a positive light. Life is too short to regret!
